| Embedded
within the suction electrode is a 99.99% pure silver wire that
will be in electrical contact with the tissue by
means
of
the
fluid sucked
into the pipette
during application of the electrode to the tissue. The silver wire
is connected to the central conductor of a BNC connector.
The outer conductor
of the BNC connector is continuous with the shell of the suction electrode.
Users will often solder a thin wire to the outer conductor, and then run
it alongside the suction electrode down the length of the capillary glass.
